GETTING THAT GLOW
Boy oh boy do I love glowing skin! A complete contrast to my teenage years where I would gravitate towards all things matte, eternally on a mission to ensure not a single spot of shine got a chance to break through. Luckily alongside my skin evolving, so has my taste and now I’m 100% on the glow/dewy bandwagon. Even though I still like to be in control of the levels of shine throughout the day, my new drier skin type gives me a chance to grab those glow getting products to ensure my complexion looks youthful and radiant with just that right hint of dew.
To get that luminosity shining through I start with skincare, specifically two masks that bring those glow levels: the REN Wake Wonderful Night Time Facial and the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask. For a boost of glow throughout the week or when those Wednesday blues just become too strong I go in with this overnight REN mask knowing that come morning, my skin will be glowing and ready for the day ahead. Looking for something a tad more intense? The Tata Harper mask is that instant solution for dull or sallow skin. Packed full of vitamins and nutrients this knocks skin into glow overdrive.
Once you’ve catered for your skin, it’s vital your base of choice doesn’t undo all your hard work. To capture that light and radiance it’s got to be the Burberry Skin Fresh Glow BB Cream in Fair 01. Recreating a fresh, youthful complexion you’ve got light diffusing properties that keeps your skin looking bright from noon to night. I also find adding an illuminating blush to the apples of my cheeks opens up the complexion. Not only that, it’s also a good excuse to use one of my much loved Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush from their own Blush Palette ;) This pearlescent finish lifts those cheekbones and captures the light. Who said a blush/highlighter hybrid was ever a bad thing!?
What are your favourite glow getting products? How do you grab that glow throughout the day?
TOP 3 NARS LIP PENCILS
To continue along this ‘best of’ series which has manifested over the past few weeks, I thought I would share with you today my top three NARS Lip Pencils. I’ve been strict, we’ve only got three shades to talk about and I’m talking three top shades that get call to action on a regular basis. Before I delve into each colour choice here is a bit of backstory, as much as NARS get a lotta love for their range of satin, velvet matte & velvet gloss lip pencils, I struggle with their pencil sharpening requirements. I’m sorry but give me a twist up chubby stick or pencil any day. That being said you can’t get away from the gorgeous and rich shade selections that NARS has going on so pencil sharpening aside, I’ve still got a handful of favourites that get my seal of approval.
Satin – here lies the winning formula in my eyes. Buttery, moisturising colour that glides onto the lips whilst doing a decent job at sticking around throughout the day. Rikugien is my favourite, a soft everyday shade that brings a tad more edge to your typical nude. Fun fact – this comes in a duo box from Sephora for beauty card members on their birthday. Thanks Sephora! Second up is Descanso which has a hint more coral is the first swatch pictured above whilst containing a few of those illusive Kylie Jenner-esqu undertones.
Velvet – when you are looking for a NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil to try there is one and one shade only that remains at the forefront of everyones minds, Cruella. It’s a classic and rightly so as the rich reg pigment holds throughout drinks, dinner and desert alongside giving those typically impossible red lips a form which actually makes application an ease. Even forgoing a lip pencil won’t cause you any dramas here.
Which are your favourite NARS Lip Pencils? Also apologies for the lack of face swatches again – I promise they will be back in full force when I get to a place where the sunshine doesn’t just hit the window shelf!
